Mallari never gave much thought to her place in the world. Then one day that all changed. She read a slogan on social media that said “All plastic that has ever been created will still be around 500 years from now!”.
She had read about plastic ending up in the oceans and landfills and over time leaching toxins which end up in our food chain. She started to think about how much single use plastic she was responsible for, from shopping bags to tooth brushes to make-up packaging. She went a whole week without buying anything that had plastic in it or around it and it proved to be more difficult than she had originally thought. This only made her more determined to try to abolish plastic from her life.
