This place is covered with beautiful street art. I mean covered! Walking down 4th street, I came across so many murals all squeezed in, side by side, as far as the eye could see. This is a great place to hire a bike and go exploring with your camera.
I read that initiative schemes were created in order to help ‘recover the streets and create areas of safety, peace and harmony.’ One of these initiatives was called Calles Corazon - which stands for Streets of the Heart. Verónica Dupré, a leader in this project explained “Urban art on our streets reflects a cohesive society with a common purpose: to express the feelings of our community, demonstrating that we are active citizens…bringing to life our streets”
Another exciting initiative was by MOS (Meeting of Styles) who gathered here to make their mark in 2018. This network of graffiti artists have been going since 2002 and have been involved in hundreds of events all over the globe. Lucky for Playa del Carmen they decided to come here too!
