Platinum Jubilee Corgi Trail
Bring out the trumpets…
I have taken part in the London Heritage Quarter's Corgi Trail to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. After a week of painting and spraying a giant corgi in my studio, I now have the pleasure to share this piece with London and the Queen!
Join The Queen's Corgi Trail from 31st May until 26th July and see if you can find mine along with 18 other colourfully decorated corgi statues, all located in different spaces around South Westminster. Being biased, Victoria is the perfect place to begin your challenge with my beautiful dog located right in the centre of NOVA.
My corgi name is Sugar. The Queen personally named all her dogs, of every breed, which given the hundreds she has bred over the years. Some names have been repeated but there is often a theme: flowers, places she’s visited, drinks, trees, metals, car makes and fictional characters from her favourite books.
See if you can spot Dookie – the royal family’s first corgi, Susan – the first corgi personally owned by the Queen gifted to her for her 18th birthday, or Muick – a corgi named after her favourite beauty spot in Balmoral. Other names to look out for include Whisky, Monty, Holly, Sugar, Sherry, Emma, Crackers and Carol, plus many more…
My design you may recognise as part of her Butterfly Effect Collection, which is inspired by the notion of how your actions and words can create a knock-on effect. This work offers a gentle reminder to be kind to others, to see the world through rainbow eyes and watch how the world changes around you.
You’ll find Sugar outside Nova. On the map, you’ll see it as number 5.
